It was the labor movement that helped secure so much of what we take for granted today. The 40-hour work week, the minimum wage, family leave, health insurance, Social Security, Medicare, retirement plans. The cornerstones of the middle-class security all bear the union label.

There is always the danger that we may just do the work for the sake of the work. This is where the respect and the love and the devotion come in - that we do it to God, to Christ, and that's why we try to do it as beautifully as possible.

Your goals should be to have the system work for you instead of your working for the system! Be the hammer - not the nail!

Hard work spotlights the character of people: some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don't turn up at all.

Let us realize that: the privilege to work is a gift, the power to work is a blessing, the love of work is success!

Work joyfully and peacefully, knowing that right thoughts and right efforts will inevitably bring about right results.
