Sunita Williams is a NASA astronaut and US Navy officer of Indian-American descent. Born on September 19, 1965, she holds records for the most spacewalks by a female astronaut (four) and the longest single spaceflight by a woman (322 days). Williams has spent a total of 322 days, 17 hours, and 57 minutes in space. She flew aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery and served as a flight engineer on the International Space Station. Williams is a recipient of numerous awards, including the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian honor. She's an inspiration to aspiring astronauts worldwide.
